Though this version of Animal Farm was an entirely British production, the financier of the film was the US's Central Intelligence Agency. If you went to high school in the US before the fall of the USSR, it's likely that sometime around your sophomore year this film was played during social studies class. The more satirical ending of this version of Animal Farm (compared to Orwell's book) was the idea of the CIA, who didn't exactly want to abide Orwell's namby-pamby Socialism any more than Stalin's Communism.
